What I'm Thankful For

This past year has been full of so many ups and downs for me. From a car accident, a death in my family, and tons of drama surrounding my wedding (if you've ever had anything to do with a wedding you'd understand) I thought there was no way this year could get any worse. Thank God it didn't!

Despite the negative circumstances that happened at the start of the year I accomplished two of my life goals. 1. I graduated from Michigan State University! GO GREEN!!!! I always knew I would go to college and I'm proud to say that I can now cross that off of my list! 2. I got married to the best man on the planet! God couldn't have given me a better husband. He's my best friend and I always know I can count on him!

With that being said I spent my whole Thanksgiving Eve sitting around sad and withdrawn because my husband and I would not get to spend our first Thanksgiving as a married couple together. For those of you who don't know- my husband is in the Army and is currently away at training. I had the whole 'woe is me" thing going on. Every time I talked to him he begged me to cheer up. He even threatened to put me on anti-depressants. What?? Lol

Anyways, as the day went on I found myself accepting the situation and dealing with it. What really helped me out were a few military support groups that I "liked" on Facebook. As I browsed some of the posts and anonymous questions that were sent it I realized that some people have it worst than me. Though I am separated from my husband because of the Army there are women whose significant others are overseas and they haven't seen them in months. It made me feel selfish for having a pity party when others are suffering more than I am. I decided that I should be thankful for everything that I do have instead of dwelling on the negative. So here's my list.
This year I thank God for:

1. My life
2. My husband- God bless him for putting up with me--I'm kind of high maintenance! Lol
3. My family- I am so blessed to have both of my parents still living and married to one another.
4. My in-laws- I hear so many horror stories, but God blessed me with amazing ones!
5. My husband is stateside and in a safe environment.
6. My great friends.
7. My education.
8. My home.
9. My freedom.
10. My cell phone. (hey, it's a luxury that not everyone has to enjoy...)
11. My MacBook (once you go Mac you'll never go back!)
12. My wardrobe.
13. My degree.
14. My mind (no one can ever take that from me)
15. My health insurance (thank you Daddy and thank you Obamacare...)
16. My bank account (it doesn't have much in it but at least it's not empty)
17. My creativity
18. My heart
19. My health
20. The heat and the water in our home.

I know some of these are superficial, but sometimes those are the things that we take for granted because we are so used to having them. Not everyone has all of these things on my list and I thank God for always providing for me and my family and allowing us to enjoy these things.
