February 2013 Glam Bag Update!!!

Hey, so I promised to write an updated post about the February Glam Bag once I've had a chance to try all of the products, and that day has finally come! I had some free time today so I put together a look for the products.

As a reminder the products were:
  • Gel Eyeliner by Mica Beauty Cosmetics- This eyeliner is nice. I prefer the gel eyeliner that I already had, but this does look fabulous on! I will definitely be using this one along with my previous one.
  • A Quad Eyeshadow Sample Set by Coastal Scents- This quad came in four colors: candlelight, gunmetal, incognito, and ashen. For the look that I did I used candlelight and ashen. The pigment wasn't too bad and it lasts pretty long.
  • An Ipsy Deluxe Sample of Lash Cards by Lash Card- I still don't see the point of the lash cards. I found them to just be a nuisance. So my thoughts on those haven't really changed.
  • Smokey Lash Kapow Mascara by Pop Beauty- This mascara isn't too bad. I like my mascara from Benefit better, however, my sister prefers this one (over my drug store mascara that is). I'll give it another try though and see how I like it.
  • Flawless & Poreless Face Primer by Pixi - I like the primer. As I said in my original post to me primer is primer. There's really no difference between this one and what I've been using.
Here are the pics from the look I created today:

Get to know me: 5 Weird, Random, & Interesting things about Me!!!

Here are 5 weird, random, and interesting things about me. Why? Because I'm running out of things to write about. And I'm awesome! Duh!

1. I weighed 2 lbs and 15 ozs at birth! I was born on October 6 but my due date was Thanksgiving. Talk about making an early appearance. I spent my first month of life in the hospital. Fun, right?

2. I have an extra finger. Don't freak out! It's not as scary as it sounds! It's so tiny that you won't even notice it unless I point it out. It doesn't have any bones and it won't grow. I wanted to have it removed because I think it's embarrassing, butttt the doctor said it's too small. -____- At least mine didn't grow and that I only have one extra body part. There's a guy that has 34 digits! (I will post a pic of mine as soon as I can get a good one of it. As I said it's really small and when I tried to take a pic you couldn't even see it.)

3. I have seen every episode of Hannah Montana! Hey, don't judge me! We all have our quirks! I still know the whole theme song. And the "Hoedown Throwdown" I knew the whole dance! Sweet niblets! And not gonna lie, but I'm still a huge Miley Cyrus fan!

4. If I could have my dream job I would be an actress, a TV host, a singer, and a successful blogger! I love theatre! I love it so much I attempted to major in it, but then I realized that I didn't want to be in school for an extra two years so I minored in it instead. I also worked on a student run sitcom called Short Attention Span! It was awesome! If I could sing I would blow ya'll out the water! I mean I would tear it up on stage! And I would love to be a successful blogger hence the reason why I blog! Watch one of my favorite skits from Short Attention Span:

5. I hate anything grape flavored. I mean candy, pop, juice, raisins anything grape flavored. But I love grapes. Explain that one...

BONUS: I designed a mobile app! Really, I did! I'm not going to post what it is because I would hate for someone to steal my idea (there are currently no apps like it)! But you know if I ever get the money to get it developed that would be awesome!

There ya go! I'm officially a weirdo, but it's all good! What are some weird, random, interesting things about you?

Mary Kay Event

I went to a Mary Kay Event* a few weeks ago and had tons of fun! I got to try new products and a new look. Here's a detailed look at my experience! (Keep reading to learn how to save 10% off of your first purchase and a free facial/color!)

The first thing we did was take "before" pics. These were of our faces 100% makeup free!

Me before...such a bad pic lol

Jo before

The point was to be able to visualize the transformation. After taking pictures the fun part started. First we used the Timewise 3 in 1 Cleanser ($18) to give our faces a good cleansing. The cleanser comes in different skin types (oily, dry, and combination). I have dry skin so my cleanser had little beads in it. Jo has combination skin so hers was smooth. I felt that the cleanser did a good job of removing all of the dead dry skin and prepping my face for the makeup.

The next step was the Timewise Age Fighting Moisturizer ($22). I really enjoyed the moisturizer. With having dry skin it sometimes takes a lot of product to get moisture back into it especially during the winter. After using it my skin felt revitalized and rehydrated.

Then we moved on to prime our skin with the foundation primer ($16). I always use primers before applying my makeup because it helps it go on really smooth. This primer did exactly that. I can't say that I love it more than my current primer because to be honest I can't really tell a difference between them.

After priming our skin we went ahead and applied our foundation with the Timewise Luminous Wear Foundation ($20). Let me tell you, a little of this foundation goes a longgggg way! This foundation worked just as well as my current foundation, but I found that it matched my skin tone better. Also, I think I might have to give this one a try because it'll probably last longer than my current one.

Once our foundation was done we moved on to our color cards. The cards had 3 different mineral eyeshadow colors, one mineral blush color, and creme one lipstick. My color card was called Berries. The eyeshadow colors were: moonstone, steel, and sweet plum. I had never really experimented with those colors before but I loved the result. I did have to apply primer to my eyelids previous to application of the shadows, but I have to do that with all shadows so it was no biggie. A cool thing about the card was that it told you exactly where to apply all three colors. That really helped me out a lot!

My blush color was called bold berry and it was bold! I actually had to do a lot of blending to tame it down a bit. But once I did that it looked great. Finally, I got to apply the lipstick! I've been dying to try new colors and this was the perfect opportunity. My lipstick color was whipped berries. It was like a deep pinkish purple color. Oh, I totally forgo to mention that we also used the Lash Love Mascara in Blakc ($15). I wasn't really impressed with it and will be sticking with my current mascara instead.

Overall, it was a great experience. It was a way for me to get out of my comfort zone and try some new colors. Now I'm not afraid to incorporate those colors into my looks!

After pics!!

Yes, we stole this from Instagram :)

Me and my friend Jo at the event

My favorite products:

Mary Kay Oil-Free Makeup Remover
Price: $15
Why I like it: It's a bit expensive for my taste, however, it works wonders. I came to the event with thick eye makeup on and needed to remove all of it. It didn't take a lot of the product to remove makeup and it did not irritate my eyes at all. My skin felt soft afterwards. I love it.

Satin Lips Set (Satin Lips Mask & Satin Lips Lip Balm)
Price: $18 or $9.50 each
Why I like it: The lip mask did a wonderful job of removing all of the dead skin from my lips. After using it my lips no longer felt cracked or dry. Using the lip balm after the mask made my lips feel incredibly smooth and hydrated. What's nice about it is that it is fragrance free and does not have a taste to it. It's perfect to apply before your lipstick or lipgloss as a base.

Peach Satin Hands Pampering Set (Hand softener, Hand scrub, Hand cream)
Price: $34
Why I like it: First of all, I love the smell. It has a light peachy smell which is awesome! This 3 piece set would be a wonderful addition to any hand care routine. The hand softener does just what the name says. It softens your hands and hydrates them before the second step. The hand scrub is the second step and it does it great job scrubbing all of the dead skin away. The only thing I didn't like was that it took a while for me to get it all off of my hands, but I may have just used too much. The last step is the hand cream. It was so light and creamy! It made my hands feel so soft and smooth!
