NuMe 3 Sum Review (Flat Iron, Curling Wand, and Mini Iron) + GIVEAWAY

Hey ladies! I've been on the market for a new flat iron for a while now and was very apprehensive about purchasing an expensive iron. I thought that there was no difference between an expensive flat iron and a cheaper one. Boy was I wrong! I was strolling through the mall when I walked past a kiosk with these men begging to flat iron your hair. My co-worker had told me that the flat iron was awesome so I decided to stop and give it a try. The results really changed my view!

When I combed my hair that morning I had a hard time getting my comb through my hair. By the time the guy was done flat ironing my hair it was very straight and my comb passed through with no problem at all. Here is a before and after picture:

After this experience I decided that it was time to invest money into a quality flat iron. The flat irons at the kiosk were at least $300 each and the lowest offer they gave me was to purchase it for $150. That was still too expensive for me. Lucky for me my May Ipsy bag had a coupon with a very generous discount for NuMe Products!

I had never heard of NuMe before so I decided to do some research. I watched some reviews on Youtube and they were all extremely positive. Alas, I decided to take the plunge and purchase the 3 Sum. The 3 Sum consists of a flat iron, a curling wand, and a mini iron.

I really like the flat iron. It got my hair very straight. It has a led light on it, and on/off switch and a swivel cord. You can adjust the temperature which goes up to 410 degrees. I had mine on about 380 degrees. When you first turn it on the light is red, but once it's ready it turns green. I only had to pass it through my hair twice for it to get completely straight. With my old flat iron I would have to pass it through several times and still wouldn't get the same results.

The plates on the iron move which makes it easy to do really nice curls. The plates are ceramic so you have to be very careful with them. I used the mini iron to straighten my edges. It's the perfect size to get close to your scalp. It doesn't have temperature control, but it does have an on/off switch, led light, and a long cord. It also makes really nice curls. I was really excited to try the curling wand and I'm glad that I did! I love it! It gave me really nice waves and added volume to my hair.

This is how my hair looks before it's straightened. (Picture was taken on a different day.)

Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of this set. I felt (and looked like) I had went to the salon. I will definitely be doing a followup post in a couple of months to see if I still feel the same about the products. At this point I highly recommend them to everyone!

Disclaimer: These are my honest views on the products. The products were purchased with my money and I am not receiving any compensation for this review.

Ipsy May 2013 Glam Bag Discounts

I don't know about anyone else, but I think this months Ipsy bag was awesome! Ipsy Match was used for the first time to help personalize the bag to each individual's interest. Because of that not everyone received the same products this month. There were some products that I really wanted to try, but I didn't get them in my bag. That's okay, though, because Ipsy and the companies have offered some amazing discounts so that we can buy the products that we want! If you're anything like me, you might have trouble remembering to purchase the items you have your eye on before the codes expire. It really helps me to write down each expiration date somewhere so that I can easily see them. I figured I'd post them here for anyone else who has trouble keeping up with them!

♡ May 2013 Glam Bag ♡

Woot-woot! My May Glam Bag finally arrived!

We received 5 full sized samples this month!

 1. Yaby Concealer- $4.85
I received the honey colored concealer. I'm not quite sure if it's the right color for me, but even if it's not I'll either use it as an eyeshadow base or pass it on to my sister.

 2. Pacifica Roll-on Perfume- $12
I got the Tahitian Gardenia scent. I really wanted the Vanilla Island one, but I'm pleased with what I have. I rolled a bit onto my wrist and it smells amazing! I definitely wouldn't have bought it on my own.

 3. Anastasia Brow Gel- $22
I've never used brow gel before so I don't have much of an opinion on this product. I'm excited to try it out though and see how it works!

 4. Mirabella Colour Sheers Lipstick- $22
The color I got is called Posy! It's a really pretty pink. I don't wear lipstick too often, but I'm happy that I got this so I can give it a try.

 5. Zoya Nail Polish- $8
I have mixed feelings about this one. I've never used a Zoya polish before, but I've heard great things about them so I'm happy to be able to try it. The color I received is called Gei Gei and it's a light pink. Pink is my favorite color so that made me happy. But on the other hand I received a pink polish last month. The point of this service is to try new things. This is definitely a color I would buy on my own. However, I am going to try it, but I might pass it on to my sister.

Total retail value of the bag: $68.85! Along with all of the discounts we can receive on all of the products (including the ones we didn't get specifically in our bags) I can definitely say that this bag was well worth my $10. Great job, Ipsy!

Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that sends you 4-5 beauty products for only $10/month! Shipping is free! If you'd like to join Ipsy click here*.

Announcement!!!

I have a few announcements to make!! First, let me start off by wishing all of the wonderful mothers in the world a very Happy Mother's Day! Especially my beautiful mama!

I love this mother/daughter moment of us at my wedding!

So for the first announcement: I'm very excited to share that I am now a contributor to an awesome blog called Army Wives Club! For those of you that don't know I am an Army wife. My husband is in the Reserves and I will be blogging about being a military family in the civilian world.

Second, this blog will now be my primary blog! Here I will blog about all things beauty and life. I may occasionally post other topics, but my WordPress blog will have everything else on it. So if you read my blog for things other than makeup don't worry you can still read my posts on Wordpress. I'm making this change because WordPress isn't as user friendly and I can't embed widgets on it. This has made it difficult for me to do some of the things that I would like, for example, a giveaway. Which brings me to announcement number 3...

I will be hosting a giveaway at some point this month! I haven't quite decided what the prize will be, but I will keep you all posted!

That's all I have for you today! I hope everyone enjoyes the rest of their day! I'll post again soon!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas (Budget Friendly!)

Mother's Day is coming up and lots of people are still searching for gifts. Here is my list of budget friendly Mother's Day gifts!

1. Spa Day
Now I know this sounds expensive, but this can work if you are on a budget. Instead of a fancy spa checkout a cosmetology school. I know of one around me that has packages starting at $15. These prices are able to be so cheap because they are students in class learning the techniques. Don't worry though, they do know what they're doing! I went to a cosmetology school and got a facial before my wedding and it was amazing!

2. Breakfast in Bed
Who doesn't love breakfast in bed? This is a great way to start off your mom's day! You can make her favorite breakfast and while she eats you can share your favorite memories of times spent together!

3. Dinner
This also a great option. You can either make her dinner or take her out to eat. I personally thinking making it yourself is more special. One year my siblings and I (with the help of our dad...ok he cooked everything) made dinner for our mom, grandma, and aunt. We put on white button up shirts and black dress pants and served them dinner course by course. It ended with a special dessert: water (my dad's choice, lol)! They enjoyed it so much and felt so special. It was definitely a winner!

4. Movies
I recently asked my Mother-in-law what she wanted for Mother's Day and she said she just wants to go to the movies. That's easy! Sometimes simple works and you don't have to come up with anything creative and/or fancy. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid, for those that don't know)

5. Beauty Subscription Box
If your mother is into makeup this could be a great gift for you. There are several beauty subscription boxes out there that range in prices. These boxes come with 4-5 (sometimes full size) products that your mom could try out. And if she likes the products she can buy them at a discount offered by the company through the subscription service. Two popular ones are Birchbox and Ipsy. I personally have Ipsy and I love it.

6. Gift cards
I know these seem so impersonal, but sometimes they are the perfect gift. You can get one for your mom to her favorite store and then she can go buy whatever she likes! My mom has actually requested gift cards in the past.

7. Build-a-Bear
I know this is a little cheesy, but just go with me on this one! If you live far away this could be a sweet gift for your mom. You can go make her a bear, dress it up nice, and then record your voice to go inside. Now anytime your mom misses you she can pick up the bear give it a hug and hear your voice saying, "I love you, Mom!" Sweet, right?

8. Gym Membership
I would only recommend this one if you know your mom won't take it the wrong way. Sometimes moms just want practical gifts. Gifts. they can actually use. If you know your mom has had her eye on a gym membership, but hasn't gotten around to getting one or doesn't have the money for one you could get it for her.

9. Crafting
If you have a Pinterest account, it could come in handy now! Doing a DIY is a great way to spend some quality time with your mom and have some fun. There are so many different projects out there that you can find one to fit her interests (and one within your budget). If you have some money to splurge Painting With a Twist could be a great option for you. (If you don't have one you can sign up here: Pinterest)

10. Homemade Heartfelt Gifts
If push comes to shove and you really don't have the money to spend a gift from the heart always works. Think back to your childhood and all of the gifts you made for your mom. Now might be the time to pull one of them out and re-create it. If you're completely out of ideas you can always make her a coupon book! You could make ones like this:
